España: Days 47-51 (El Campello)

Day 47:
Monday 22nd of August, we go to El Tapeo for lunch because we were in the mood for some tapas and we have not been back to Tapeo in a while. The only thing good about this visit was our view and the sangria de cava. We ordered the "Mediterranean Ensalada" thinking the ingredients would be fine but it came with tuna on top and then what we thought were peppers, were something else. I dont know what I ate but I was about to vomit. I moved on from the salad to the patatas but those were not cooked properly and they were watery.

I failed to mention that Friday last week when we were leaving for our road trip, we noticed a sign on my favorite restaurant, il Cuore di Napoli, that said something about them not opening again until 22 August for refurbishment. Well today, they were not open. In fact Scott noticed that all of the outdoor tables were gone and the outdoor seating area was left empty. I am very concerned that they are gone. Cynthia would have mentioned it though so I am holding out hope that they are coming back!

Day 48:
Scott and I were going to meet at Brel for lunch today after he goes to the post office on his way home from school. He made it there before me and they were closed so we went to Tasca Marinera. I was not feeling very well so I really just wanted fish, something clean. Scott was not feeling great either....I am starting to think it was whatever was in that salad yesterday.

Back to Star of India it was for dinner. Coco usually hates when we come to Star of India because she does not get a taste of our food. Too spicy for the little one!

Day 49:
Since we have been in El Campello (locally known as just "Campello"), there have been a number of tourists. It was bad when we got here in July but there are 10x more people in August. Because of this, you get a lot of street performers but mainly you get a lot of people trying to sell things such as DVD's, handmade or imported jewelry, shoes, clothing, fake designer purses, watches, etc...Most of the people selling come straight from Africa. Northern Africa is very close. So let's just say, the African women here hate me because they can't take no, gracias for an answer. We also have 1 of the males that hates us, we call him the witch doctor because we are pretty she he has put a spell on us before. He sells beach blankets and even though he sees us everyday (as they all do), at least twice a day PLUS WE BOUGHT ONE, he still gives us dirty looks every time we say no. Yesterday this one woman crossed me and cut me with her eyes and quite frankly I'm just sick of being harassed every time we sit down to eat somewhere. Today as we are having lunch at Max Pizzeria Restaurante, a woman tries selling us her jewelry and as I'm trying to be nice by saying, no gracias, she starts mocking me like a child "no, gracias. No, gracias" she cackled as she walked away. Sick of this shit, I loudly yell EXCUSE ME?!? And then Scott made the situation stop by trying to calm me. I ended up picking a great Rosé and we drank up!

Anytime we go to the Indian restaurant, we walk by Bar Merfin so we will typially make a reservation for the following day...today is the day that we get to eat there! This one place you should always have a reservation for and since it's on the way to Star of India, it works out perfectly! Until we have tried everything we want to try here, we will get 2 new items and 2 items we have already had on previous visits. I was going to get the tortilla Espanola again but they were out so I went with my favorite, tortitas platano. The new items we tried were: pollo crujiente (delicious!) and medallon de lentejas (it was just ok...actually, it was the only thing we did not finish).

Day 50:
We headed over to Cavia for lunch today to get some paella. Scott will no longer eat paella for dinner because one if his Spanish instructors told him Spaniards only eat it for lunch. We also tried the sangria for the first time here and wow, it is the best we have had. Who knew Cavia had the best sangria in town?! We like to get a few appetizers here so we can have paella leftovers for another day.

Coco was going hardcore today after siesta with her treat begging. She kept doing meerkat mode and whining...really she is just straight up cute and I think she knows it.

Day 51:
We went to Restaurante Brel for lunch today. Coco and I did some shopping and then met Scott there after he got back from school. I kind of lost track of time as I was trying clothes on at Koala Bay (another great shop in Campello) so I was a little late in meeting Scott. I got to try a new dish here at Brel because their fish if the day was seabass! Scott also tried a new dish....

We stopped at a bar close by to have a drink, chill and I wanted to go into the ocean for a bit! Bar Pata Palo Grupo Abordaje has a cool laid back vibe. Reggae music played at times which obviously makes me happy 😆
